As a makeup artist specializing in bridal makeup I already know how stressful the day of your wedding is going to be but here are some helpful tips that can help you not add anymore stress. First of all if you are going to be having your wedding that will be held at a residence at its your own or even if it is a family members home please do yourself a favor and book a hotel room near the location. This is one of the worst mistakes you can do is be at the location where there are people coming in and out setting up and they are pulling the bride in all different directions asking questions left and right. This will add on extra stress and also cuts into my time trying to get you finished on time.
If you are going to be getting ready where the venue will take place please make sure you and your bridal party are the only ones allowed to be in the bridal suite. This will give you time for yourself the last few hours as a single woman. You want this time to be calm and relaxing because the next 8 hours or so will be extremely hectic. Having little kids running around breaking things, crying, touching things that they shouldn't be touching is not what the bride wants to be dealing with she wants to drink mimosa's, go over her vows, give her bridesmaids her thank you gift, have a special moment with her parents and think about her groom. If you clearly know that your new in-laws do not care for you and do not want you to marry their son PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not I repeat DO NOT get ready at the same place as them. If the family doesn't like you then most likely they will not like me either because I am booked through you. This means they will not only be rude to you but rude to me and make us very uncomfortable. There is nothing worse for a makeup artist than having the bride in your chair and the mother of the groom making rude comments to the bride, having her almost in tears and shaking in my chair. Please book a separate room for us so I can work my magic in peace. And lastly if I am providing services at the home of the bride or a family members home please be conscious of having a clean safe work environment. This one is more important than anything. I do not want to infect my home with whatever bugs or insects that you feel comfortable with in your own home. All of these things are not just scenarios I made up in my head these are all scenarios that I have been through the last 4 years of freelancing. Basically what it boils down to is spend the extra money to have some peace and quite and allows me to do my job effectively and efficiently we are all on a time schedule.

Hello everyone this is my very first blog so I hope you enjoy some of the information I will share with all of you. First of all the #1 thing I dislike the most from my clients is when they sit in my chair for their preview or special event makeup appointment and I say to them "what were you thinking for your makeup look" and the response is "I don't care do whatever you want you are the professional". First of all, you should care what I am doing you are paying me to offer you a service and good money I might add. Second of all If I just met you for the first time most likely I will not know off the bat your taste or style. Thirdly if you don't care well then why don't I make my job easier for me and do whats quick and fast. What you can do to make my job easy and to assure you get exactly what you want? You can start by telling me or showing me what the dress looks like, how you will do your hair, what colors are the accessories, shoes and bridal party dresses. A couple of pictures of inspiration is extremely helpful. The venue location, wedding theme and time of ceremony also plays a big part of the makeup look. See your makeup look will be based on a number of things. I know I am the professional but getting a better understanding of what you are really like makes it so much more helpful. This makeup look is a collaboration between the two of us. If you tell me that you never wear makeup well that tells me a whole lot. If you tell me you just love to wear colorful or dramatic makeup that gives me another understanding of what you like. Your interpretation of natural/dramatic is completely different than mine. I cannot read minds so please tell me what yours is thinking and I am sure your vision will come to life just as you planned in that pretty little head of yours.
